Built in 1837 — before Wisconsin was even a state — The Historic Wagon Wheel began its life as a one-room schoolhouse on the edge of what would become Delavan. Over nearly two centuries, it evolved: from schoolhouse to general store, and in 1922 it opened its doors as a bar and tavern, one of the earliest in the area during the height of Prohibition.
Today it stands as one of the most historic and beloved gathering spots in Walworth County — a genuine Wisconsin tavern where cold drinks, hearty food, and good company have been a tradition for generations.
A Wisconsin tradition. Every Friday, golden-fried Lake Perch dinners that locals have been coming back for year after year. It’s the real deal — don’t miss it.
When you walk through our doors, you’re stepping into almost 200 years of history. The atmosphere is genuine — warm, worn-in, and welcoming. No two visits are the same.
Ice-cold Wisconsin beers on tap, classic cocktails, and a full bar — plus hearty bar-and-grill favorites including our legendary Reuben sandwich.
Come on in — we’re always happy to see you.
